How Is Boogie Heads Different From Other Companies?

Chris Hampton | February 8, 2010

Chris Hampton is an event entertainment expert who owns a number of thriving businesses in Tennessee. In addition to running “Vaudeville Café,” a family-friendly entertainment attraction, Hampton also owns Boogie Heads, an interactive party activity for people of all ages. In this article, he explains what makes Boogie Heads stand apart from its competitors.

While a couple of other brands offer similar types of equipment to Boogie Heads, they differ from our company because the systems they run are mostly computer-based. Their interactive entertainment systems require the use of a computer to run, and ours do not. Of course, there are a lot of ways to create the kinds of digital party tricks that Boogie Heads offers. But it has been my experience that running the equipment through a computer is not necessarily a good choice, and that is based on a number of issues that could potentially pop up.

For one, we chose not to go with using a computer-based system for Boogie Heads because computers tend to freeze up. They can be problematic in a lot of other ways, too, but you certainly do not want a computer freezing up during a party when people are in the middle of watching a Boogie Heads performance.

Using computers for this kind of thing can make the entire process more complicated than it needs to be, because there are just more issues to be concerned with and check on when you are running a computer. The rig we sell people to operate Boogie Heads is a self-contained system, so there is no computer required to operate it.

Computers should be used for other things, not the operation of the equipment. For instance, with Boogie Heads we do use a computer for things like keeping up with how many songs have been burned onto DVDs for the guests to take home as party favors at the end of the event. But we have been very careful about making sure that a laptop isn’t necessary for the specific interactive process that the equipment needs to perform at parties and events.

This is the major difference between Boogie Heads and its competitors. But, more importantly, many of our music video dancers are funnier than theirs. A lot of the Boogie Heads experience is based on the music videos the company offers and the dancers that are in them. Because the party guests’ heads are going to be placed on top of the dancers, it is more hilarious when the dancer in the music video is as outrageous and over-the-top as possible.

The best music videos are the ones where the dancer is totally nuts. Can you imagine your mom’s head on some girl who is dancing like Paula Abdul, turning and kicking and spinning in the air? That is obviously going to be a much better experience than a tame, toned-down dancer.

These reasons and more are why so many party planners and hosts go with Boogie Heads before any other companies when they are planning a special event.
