What Is Boogie Heads?

Chris Hampton | February 8, 2010

Tennessee businessman Chris Hampton is the owner of numerous event and entertainment companies. In addition to founding “Playtime Portraits” and the “Vaudeville Café,” Hampton is the owner of Boogie Heads, an event entertainment company that sells party equipment to aspiring entrepreneurs. In this article, Hampton explains what Boogie Heads is and why so many people love it.

Boogie Heads is one of the most fastest-growing, entertaining, and fun party and event companies out there right now.

We arrive at a party, set up our area with a “green screen” just like you see in the movies, and then get party guests to come sit down on a stool. Once you are on the stool, we wrap your body with a green bib that looks like the type of thing you would wear if you were getting your hair cut.

Wrapping your body isolates your head. So only your head will show up on camera, since the green screen is a special effect that makes the background disappear in videos. After making sure your body is hidden, we put on some music, have you bob your head around to it, and then shoot you with our video cameras.

Before you know it, you’ll be back out with the rest of the party guests looking at the monitor, where you will see yourself pop up on the screen. Voila, there it is: your own head superimposed on the body of a professional dancer in a music video.

You’re sure to laugh when you look up and see yourself doing plies, leaps, and jumps in a music video. All of a sudden you’ll become an amazing dancer!

What you would be “dancing” to is 90-second clip of a popular song: We use very recognizable songs that people know from different genres and eras. As soon as the song is over, the clip is ready to be played on the big-screen monitor in front of everyone. Guests can even take home a DVD of their “performance” if they want.

The fun thing about Boogie Heads is that you can do it with two or three other people—not just by yourself. So you can get guys and girls to do it together, or moms and dads. You can even have Grandpa dance up a storm! The entire process is visual and fun, both for the people on the screen and the people watching it. That’s what Boogie Heads is all about.

We can go to pretty much all types of events with the Boogie Heads equipment. We go to birthday parties, surprise parties, and big corporate events. All ages can take part in the kinds of parties we have with Boogie Heads, and all types of businesses invite us to their corporate gatherings.

I think it’s always funny when we go to these company parties, mainly because a lot of people are sick of the same old entertainment options. So when we show up with our Boogie Heads equipment at a company Christmas party, everyone sits there thinking they are about to have the “same ‘ole, same ‘ole” kind of event they had last year. As the night goes on, though, they watch as we set up the equipment, and we notice them trying to figure out what it is we are there for and what we are doing. A lot of people at first think we’re a karaoke company. But then they say, “No, this can’t be karaoke.” And once we get the system set up, there is usually one brave person who comes over and tries it out first. And once he starts getting into it and laughing, I get to witness a complete transformation of the party: from “I’m bored,” “This party is lame,” and “I want to go home” to “Wow—this party is awesome!”

By the end of the night, the people at these company parties are usually fighting over who gets to go next.
