Not only can some of today’s HVAC systems clean the air inside homes, but they can actually do a better job of filtering and purifying that air than standard HEPA filters. According to Kim Warner of Air Plus Heating & Cooling, a company that installs heaters, coolers, and heat pumps in San Diego, a revolutionary new product by Trane is changing the way people think about air purification.
For years, HEPA filters were the go-to products for homeowners concerned about the quality of air in their residences. Whether air quality was of concern because of little ones with allergies or for environmental reasons, people have spent thousands of dollars buying HEPA filters for their homes over the past few years. Now, a cutting edge system known as Trane CleanEffects is making it possible for people to get 99.98% cleaner air in their homes – without using excessive amounts of electricity or energy.
How is this possible? As Warner explains, the Trane CleanEffects system removes all of the airborne allergens in a home – including dust, mold, pet danger, and smoke – and traps them. The CleanEffects system has been rated by the FDA, and Warner says it has the highest clean air delivery rate on the market.
When the CleanEffects system is paired up with a Trane variable speed furnace, it runs at the cost of a porch light, 24 hours a day. Even when a homeowner is not using heat or air conditioning, the CleanEffects system is still working and getting rid of harmful allergens in the air.
Warner says homeowners who call in for new HVAC units or heat pumps in San Diego are overwhelmed when they find out that the CleanEffects system is now being offered in their area. When people get the CleanEffects system installed, they can go up to three weeks at a time without dusting their furniture, says Warner, all because the CleanEffects system pulls dust and dander out of the air before it settles on tables and chairs.
Given San Diego’s beautiful climate, Warner says that people can go weeks or even months without turning their AC or heating units on. That’s okay when they have the CleanEffects system in place, since it works even when the HVAC unit is turned off.
The CleanEffects system is nine times more effective than a basic HEPA filter. Warner says that this statistic is based on the clean air delivery rate, which is a number that is stamped on all air filtration products that have been rated by the FDA. The clean air delivery rate of a CleanEffects system is 1,200, says Warner, compared to 150 for HEPA filters. In comparison, the standard one-inch filters that come on most furnaces have a clean air delivery rate of 12.
Warner recommends that people who are interested in breathing cleaner, healthier, fresher air look into having the CleanEffects system. In San Diego, CleanEffects systems can be put in at any time during the year, and they are an excellent option for people with allergies to mold or dust.
