Jennifer Swalwell is the owner of Serenity Zone Med Spa in Olney, Maryland. A leading provider of aesthetic and laser services in the Washington, DC, area, Serenity Zone offers a range of services from laser hair removal to customized facials and Juvederm treatments. In this article, she explains the basics of a VISIA skin analysis.
The VISIA digital skin analysis is a treatment that allows us to specifically look at the sun damage on a client’s skin in a way that shows more detail than we have really ever been able to see before. By looking at the damage through a special light, we can see damage that is not even currently visible on the skin. This treatment really works that well.
Not only that, but the VISIA digital skin analysis will also show wrinkles and pores, and it gives us a close-up look at porphyrins, which is the term for when bacteria grows inside a person’s pores.
Using VISIA, we are able to get a close, multidimensional look at a client’s face. That, in turn, allows us to put together an effective treatment plan for pretty much any client with any type of skin issues. The VISIA allows us to do this by providing an accurate, clinical measurement of any person’s skin surface. That is why this is a treatment that is so helpful — much more helpful and accurate than older methods of looking at a person’s skin.
The treatment plans that our clients choose after undergoing the VISIA digital skin analysis can really vary, obviously, depending on which issues were discovered while undergoing the analysis.
I would say most commonly, though, we help our patients put together a treatment plan that includes a series of laser treatments or a series of facials. Facials, for example, would be a great option if we were talking to a patient who had acne. Or, in some cases, we might even be able to combine a laser program with a facial program to address all of a client’s areas of concern.
Because the VISIA digital skin analysis gives us a digital image of the skin, and because it is intended to examine a series of age-related conditions, many of our clients who request it are of a different age group than the clients who request just the facials or laser treatments alone, for example.
In general, patients who come into Serenity Zone Medical Spa requesting a VISIA digital skin analysis are 30 to 60 years old. As always, though, we do have patients who are younger and patients who are older asking for this skin analysis treatment option.
So overall, what people should know about the VISIA digital skin analysis is that it is a great way to see how a patient’s facial skin is doing, and to see the irregularities, fine lines, and sun spots that may not have even shown up to the naked eye. And by catching these things early, we can put together a helpful, beneficial treatment method for our clients that will help them achieve the overall look they desire.
