Over time, our teeth tend to become discolored or stained. Whether this is from smoking, coffee, or certain foods, a beautiful smile could be closer than you think. We offer a safe, inexpensive solution to an unsightly smile. Whitening your teeth is a simple procedure that can be completed in relatively short period of time.
Our office uses the BriteSmile teeth-whitening system. We gravitated toward BriteSmile because of all the in-office teeth-whitening systems, it produces the most consistent results with the least amount of sensitivity.
The procedure for BriteSmile whitening is quick and painless. The first step is to isolate the teeth and protect the gums and lips. When this has been accomplished, the peroxide-based whitening gel is placed on the teeth. The gel, which is what lifts stains out of the enamel, is activated by a specially designed light that is directed at the teeth. The entire procedure takes just over an hour. The resulting teeth are usually six to 10 shades whiter.
There is no way to whiten teeth without some transient sensitivity immediately following the procedure. But BriteSmile, we have found, provides the least discomfort. We based our reasoning on BriteSmile’s biggest competitor, Zoom! whitening, which studies have found will give you good results but has more sensitivity.
