As a general rule of thumb, anything that heats or cools is going to be your biggest consumer of electricity. With any appliance that changes the state of heat, the conversion rate is almost a 1:1 ratio, and therefore, these items will use lots of power.
For this reason, Bill Lutz, an electrician with Generation 3 Electric in Philadelphia, says you should be conservative in your use of any heating appliances such as electric clothes dryers, hair dryers, curling irons and electric heaters. These items use heating coils and usually have a 1:1 conversion rate, which means they sap a huge amount of power. Advanced and expensive hair dryers and curling irons make hair dry quicker, but be aware that these that require a higher ampage and use more electricity. With such high energy consumption appliances, you can also have problems with surges and overloading circuits. So be aware of what is else is plugged into the circuit before you power up these appliances.
Cooling devices like air conditioners, freezers and refrigerators are also huge drainers of energy. These devices are similar to heating appliances in terms of their conversion and require an almost equal trade of energy to run.
Cooking appliances, such as microwave ovens, are now cooking faster and better than ever before and as such are using more energy. Be sure to purchase EnergyStar certified cooking appliances to save as much as you can.
Most people don’t realize it, but entertainment systems are also becoming a lot more energy draining. A plasma TV or LCD TV uses a lot more energy than an older tube TV does and most entertainment centers today are major power players.
Vacuums cleaners use lots of electricity as well. Many vacuums use 9 to 12 amps and most normal home electricity systems are only 15 amps, which is why many people overload and blow circuits when they switch on their vacuum cleaner. Modern vacuums are sold at even higher rating than older models, so be aware of the rating when you purchase a new cleaner. Again, buy EnergyStar devices whenever possible.

I understand it is possible to switch to more energy efficient appliance parts, even with normal retail products that are not that efficient. It is a real shame all the new LCD and HD TV screens use up more power than before. Hopefully this will change in the future.

Appliances consume huge amounts of energy , especially any radiators, i have searched for more energy efficient appliances , but those are very expensive , tried replacing some Kenmore Parts with more efficient ones , think it is a cheaper way
