Ronald Wilkes is the owner of Charlotte Dumpster Service, a license and insured roll-off container rental company in North Carolina. Here, he explains how homeowners should prepare for their dumpster’s arrival.
Getting ready for the arrival of your dumpster is easy for most people. It involves finding a place for the dumpster to sit, making sure that spot is free and clear of debris, and making sure the truck that is delivering the dumpster has a place to back in and park.
When a homeowner calls and asks to have a dumpster delivered, one thing we will talk about is where the dumpster will be placed. Each of the three sizes of roll-off containers that I offer has the same footprint on the ground. So the size of the roll-off container, also known as a dumpster, which a person orders generally does not determine whether there will be enough space to set the container down.
In general, I tell people that if you have enough room to park your car somewhere, then there is probably enough room for a roll-off container to be set down there.
A roll-off container is delivered is with a hydraulic truck that backs into the spot. Because of that, we have to make sure that there is enough room to back the truck up in the area and roll it off the back. In most driveways, this isn’t a problem.
The only other thing that homeowners need to be sure to do is to clean off the area where the roll-off container will be set down on the day of its arrival. Junk tends of get sprawled out during the course of a busy remodeling job, so a homeowner just needs to make sure that the driveway where the roll-off container is being set down is clear of any other construction vehicles and trash during the time when the dumpster is being delivered.
Although there have been times when a homeowner does not have a driveway or a spot to park the dumpster, that is usually a problem we can solve. Just by calling a dumpster professional and letting him know the scope of your project and the size of your driveway or surrounding area, you will most likely be able to find a solution to the problem and find a spot to put down the roll-off container.
