Charlotte Dumpster Service owner Ronald Wilkes gets asked all types of questions about waste and debris removal from his clients across the North Carolina area. In this article, he explains exactly what a roll-off container is, and why renting one is so beneficial for homeowners.
When you see a big metal dumpster sitting on any construction or residential job site, you are looking at a roll-off container. People often use the term interchangeably with the term dumpster, but either word describes the same product.
A roll-off container is a large, rectangular, metal box that people use to hold their trash and debris during a remodeling or cleaning project. The term roll-off comes from the way the container is delivered as it literally rolls off the back of a commercial dumpster truck in a controlled way.
Using the hydraulics on my truck at Charlotte Dumpster Service, I can put any size roll-off container in a precise area at nearly anyone’s home or office. And this can be done without damaging any property at the job site, as well, which is obviously important to the homeowner. In most cases, the container itself is placed on a homeowner’s driveway or where he typically leaves his car.
Roll-off containers come in a variety of sizes, which makes them a popular option for all types of home and commercial jobs. Here at Charlotte Dumpster Service, though, I carry three sizes. I carry roll-off containers that are 10, 15, and 20 cubic yards in size. Although the 20 cubic yard is my most popular size, people really use all three sizes depending on the scale and scope of their project.
It isn’t just home projects, I should mention, that need roll-off containers. I often have even smaller-end commercial and industrial jobs that ask for me to deliver roll-off containers to the job site, as well.
So when someone is talking about getting a dumpster delivered to haul away their trash, what they are usually talking about is a roll-off; it is as simple as that.
