How to Remove Heavy Junk

Ronald Wilkes | January 12, 2010

Waste removal professional Ronald Wilkes has an established reputation in the North Carolina area. As the owner of Charlotte Dumpster Service, he offers home clean outs, appliance removal, and recycling in addition to his dumpster rental services. Here, he tells us how homeowners should get rid of the appliances and furniture that are too heavy to lift.

Oftentimes when homeowners take on an extensive remodeling project on their own, they get to a point where there is a heavy item such as appliance or piece of furniture that is just too heavy for them to lift. Rather than asking multiple friends and family members to come over to try to help, homeowners can just as easily call a dumpster service company such as my own to come over and get that item out right away.

The most common calls we get are from people who own rental properties that need to be cleaned out. There is no telling what types of things are in these residences, but with just one phone call that person can reach me here at Charlotte Dumpster Service, and I will have a team of guys who can clean out the property right away.

So we can do that labor for customers much easier than most people could do it themselves. And if one of my employees can’t handle the job on his own, I have a whole team of guys who can come over and take care of it that day.

In addition to cleaning out rental properties, we frequently get calls from people who are struggling with something in their garage during a spring cleaning, as well as people who need help removing a heavy kitchen appliance like an oven or a stove. I generally tell people that we can handle just about anything, from major electronics to exercise equipment, from washing machines to outdoor sports equipment.

The amount I charge for an appliance or furniture pick up and removal depends on what we are hauling. As a general rule, though, typically if I go to someone’s house and pick up one item, then for something like that I will charge the person $99 for the pick up. And then if we do labor, such as if we clean out a rental property or home, then that is an extra charge.

Having someone like myself come over and remove heavy appliances and furniture simplifies the process of cleaning out or remodeling. Whether you’re a homeowner or a business owner, there is no reason to struggle — and possibly hurt yourself — trying to remove anything that’s extremely heavy. Instead, I would recommend simply calling a service company like my own and letting us handle the heavy lifting.
