As president and owner of the family business, based in Southwestern Florida and proudly serving Lee, Charlotte and Collier counties, Rick Hedge talks here about how it got its name – and why it deserves to keep it.
Just 30 years ago, my father bought a company called Econo Rooter. We were known as “The King of Clogs,”l and our main mission was to fix and unclog drains. When I was just four years old, I began working for my dad in his business, and I learned all about plumbing from the ground up.
As the years went by, our company grew – and so did I. Other plumbers in the area began to use us to serve their customers, which was fine by us. Either we were hired as a subcontractor by these other plumbers, or they recommended us to their customers.
Respecting Customers
We consider ourselves to be an honest, dependable and upfront business, and we believed in helping other plumbing contractors in the area, while respecting their customers. When we are working for another plumber, or for their customer, our goal is never to solicit any other plumbing work.
Our job is to focus on the customer that has been referred to us, and to fix his problem to the best of our ability. Our concentration has always been, and always will be, to help our customers first above all else.
Maintaining Relationships with Plumbers
Saying that, we have worked hard to maintain strong relationships with other plumbers. It is our obligation to maintain moral and ethical business practices with other companies, and we like to work alongside them, not just to be in competition with them.
