How to Remove Yard Trash

James Brown | January 22, 2010

You might think that getting rid of 50 bags of leaves or large branches is easy. Think again. Removing yard debris is not as straightforward as it seems, which is why it makes sense to call in a professional, says James Brown, operations manager of 1-800 Dump Runs of Hartford LLC, located in Manchester, Connecticut.

Removing yard trash is tricky. In most cities here in Connecticut, you can bag your leaves and put them on the curb. They will either take the bags, or in some areas, if you push the yard trash to the corner, they will suck them up with a leaf truck on a set schedule.

Some yard debris harder to get rid of would be tree limbs, stumps, dirt, and things of that nature. There are facilities that take them but it can be difficult for customers to get them there without having a pickup truck or something like that to use.

Made Into Compost

We take the debris ourselves and load it into a dumpster, or we give the customer a dumpster and he loads it. Then we bring it to a recycling facility that specifically handles branch removal, yard debris or dirt. They will process it either for resale, compost or whatever they use it for.

One of the biggest differences customers find through using our service, compared to other companies, is that we make it easy for you. It is often difficult for customers to remove that debris themselves because of the sheer volume or size. If there is a fallen tree or example, some pieces can be physically unmanageable for many homeowners or residential customers. That is where they can see the benefit of having a company like ours.

The Right Equipment

We will come to you with all the equipment necessary to move it, construction equipment, for example, a Bobcat or whatever is necessary to remove that debris. And our smallest containers are 6yd containers, which are good for branch removal.

We require things like leaves to be in bags for transport issues. If they are not in bags, they will blow away. We can remove any kind of bundle, bag or container, and we can also offer special rates and services for businesses.
