You are never too old and never to young to start caring for your spine. Did you know that even a newborn should get his spine checked? It is never too early: At birth, a baby can undergo trauma coming out of the womb and into the world: drugs are given during labor, there are unnatural birthing positions, the baby is pulled and twisted, invasive procedures are done like forceps delivery, and there is vacuum extraction. Even in a C-section, a baby’s neck may be bent and twisted in order to come out, causing overwhelming stress to his spine. This results in misalignments which can interfere with the normal communication (neurotransmission) between the brain and the body. That’s why Dr. Gregg Rubinstein, who runs 57th Street Chiropractic and family wellness Center in New York City, says that infants should be checked by a chiropractor as soon as possible.
So how does a chiropractor treat an infant? An infant is laid down on the mother’s or father’s chest in a natural position. Dr. Rubinstein says that adjustments are made using pinky pressure on the spine. If children don’t get their spines checked at this young age, it can set the stage for problems later. That’s because there is a close association between an infant’s nervous system and the spine. A twisted spine in a newborn can interfere with normal development, producing uneven pressure on growth plates and imbalanced growth or irritation of the delicate spinal nerves, which control and coordinate every stage of that intense growth and development. Dr. Rubinstein says, “You get your child’s teeth checked as soon as they come through. Why would you wait to check their spine? People are just not in that mindset that spinal care is not only about pain.” The same innate thing that created the body as a perfect being with 10 fingers and 10 toes perfectly symmetrical is expressed through the nervous system’s misalignments to the spine. It can interfere with the transmission of information throughout the body. Safe and natural chiropractic care removes interference from the spine. So you can express your natural health potential throughout your entire life.
If you have never seen a chiropractor.. Don’t worry, Dr. Rubinstein says. “It’s never too late to start taking care of your spine,” he says. Once you commit to removing the misalignments which cause pressure to your spine and nerve system, your body will start to heal and grow as your natural recuperative powers kick in and flow again. Why wait to have your spine checked? “How much pain and discomfort do you want to be in before you get it checked out?” take action today. Keep your entire families spine and nervous system healthy so all of you can live an active healthy life to 100 years and beyond.
