Reasons to Remodel

David Pinsley | December 17, 2009

Some people remodel because they are tired of a room looking the same year after year. Others decide to renovate because they really have no choice. Which category do you fall into? David Pinsley is of First Rate Renovations, Inc. and Cultured Marble Products in San Leandro, California, asks you to ask yourself if you are really ready to remodel..

Are you ready to remodel? That’s a great question, and often is one that has an incredibly easy answer.

Is your bathroom falling apart? Is your toilet leaking? Does your bathtub have so many cracks and chips you cannot stand it anymore? Is your bathroom floor so nasty you cannot deal with it any longer? Are your kitchen countertops falling apart, and do you have a moldy smell inside your cabinets?

Or maybe you are just fed up with your home looking the way it does. Have you lived in your house so long that you are just sick and tired of looking at the same bathroom or kitchen year after year? Do you have money in the bank so you can say, “Hey, I can afford to get a new kitchen. I am tired of this one and want to splash out on a new one!”

Slobs Versus Neat Freaks

Believe it or not, in my experience, I have found that about 8o% of all people I see are slobs, while 20% are neat and tidy. And only about 5% of those are super neat. Most houses I see need a remodeling job real bad, and those 8o% of the people I see have a definite need to remodel as they are in trouble. Those other 20% are tired of looking at that old kitchen, the old bathroom. They are ready to upgrade.

They remember that nice summer home they rented, that nice suite on the cruise ship they were on last summer, that nice hotel suite they stayed in a few months ago with the fantastic spa bathroom. They want to replicate something like in their own home, and now they can afford it. So why not?

So take a long, hard look at yourself and see which category you fall into. Are you ready to remodel because you are tired of looking at your old kitchen, or are you ready to remodel because you have no choice? Either way, we are here for you.
