How to Add a Sunroom to Your Home

Courtney Iseman | August 13, 2009

What are the risks or disadvantages of hiring a general contractor for a sunroom addition?

Of course, even if you do everything right, check out a few contractors and their references, you can still end up with a less than stellar contractor. Work might take much longer than it should, it might cost more than it should, and certain aspects of the sunroom may not look exactly like you wanted. These problems can run anywhere from minor to major obstacles in the process, and that can be quite the harrowing ordeal. But, this is all unlikely if you really take the time to research your contractor. Talk to a few past clients. Only proceed with that contractor if every single client had a good review. If one person had a problem, even if nine others didn’t, then move on to next contractor. Because that next person with a problem could be you. Tons of contractors are out there, though, so you won’t have trouble finding one that has a good and solid reputation, so you can kick back and trust the job will get done right. You can rest assured that there is less room for a contractor to go wrong since, again, a sunroom is a simple project. A one-room add-on that doesn’t need plumbing or four whole walls will be a quick job, and then you’ll be left with a private, indoor oasis for you and your family.
