Avoid Cheap Plumbing Materials

Rick Hedge | March 10, 2010

Don’t skimp on supplies when it comes to your plumbing, says Rick Hedge. As owner of The Plumber’s Plumber, based in Southwestern Florida, proudly serving Lee, Charlotte and Collier counties, he says that choosing the cheapest option is more often than not a poor decision. So shell out the money in the beginning to save cash – and headaches – in the long run.

Our advice to anyone building a new home is to use the better plumbing materials. It makes a lot of economic sense to spend the extra money for the better fixtures. You should also take the time to make sure the quality of the plumber you are hiring is good. That means making sure that he has the same quality-minded thoughts that you do.

One recommendation we pass on to our clients is that we tell people to avoid the urge to purchase the cheapest fixtures, as well as the cheapest plumbing materials. When they do that, it leads to long-term problems, and ends up costing them a lot more in the long run.

Cheap Toilets

People should realize that they sit on a toilet more than they sleep in their bed, and they should spend the extra money for a better flushing toilet. Don’t try to buy a cheap toilet if you are going to be using that toilet every day.

The same thing applies to shower valves and fixtures in tubs. You want them to last 30 years, at least. So paying an extra $100 or so is a much better investment, in my opinion. Buy shower valves and fixtures that are easily repairable, or from places where they are easily replaceable should they need to be replaced.

Setting the Industry Standard

We are a full service plumbing company that always offer our customers the latest in plumbing equipment, combined with state-of-the-art materials and an expert staff. We know that in today’s economy, money can be tight. But it just doesn’t make sense for us to work with substandard materials and fixtures, when all that means is that they will not last long and they often break quickly.

Our commitment to you is to set the industry standard as far as plumbing services are concerned, whether you’re building a new home or setting up a large commercial project. You can count on us for professional, competent and honest service, and we are competitively priced as well. For a free estimate or simply to learn more about us, contact us today.
