Installing Pipe Lining

Rick Hedge | March 9, 2010

An affordable and durable way to halt pipe corrosion is to install pipe lining, which is cheaper than putting in new pipes, says Rick Hedge. As owner of The Plumber’s Plumber, based in Southwestern Florida, proudly serving Lee, Charlotte and Collier counties, he talks her about what’s involved…

Plumbers know that the moment a pipe is installed, pipe corrosion begins. Over years, this will result in gradual deterioration of the pipe itself, and can also affect the water quality in your property. But the cost of a re-pipe can be a lot more than having new pipe lining installed in your home or commercial premises.

Having new pipe lining installed is a much cheaper solution to a whole house re-pipe. The pipe lining process is quick and permanent, and will extend the useful life of older piping systems.

After cleaning the pipe and taking all of the measurements that are required, our expert plumbers will pull our lining material into place, while the pipe is still pliable. That means it will allow it to go around bends and curves in the pipe, making it a perfect fit.

Then, a chemical reaction occurs within the lining material and applied epoxy resins. This reaction works by allowing it to harden in place, forming a new pipe within the old pipe.

Installing pipe lining is an affordable and durable solution, which will eliminate leaks in your pipes while improving flow. Pipe lining will also help form a protective barrier against lead and other harmful elements in your pipes, as many are still fitted with the original lead-based pipe plumbing fixtures. This will halt any further leaching of lead and other elements, which can be harmful if they enter the drinking water of your home.

If you were suddenly to find that the pipes in your living room or office waiting room are faulty and beginning to crack and/or leak, you probably wouldn’t want to go to the time and effort to dig them all out and have them replaced. That’s why installing pipe lining instead can be such a practical idea. See what we can do for you today.
