One reason Americans tend to be overweight is because they consume far more calories than their body actually needs, says Dr. Anju Mathur, who runs the Angel Longevity Medical Center in Los Angeles. A low-calorie diet could be the answer, as she explains here.
If you look at aging theories, one aging theory is that if you consume more calories than what the body needs, the body actually ages faster. If you reverse that, you’ll find that a low-caloric diet prolongs a lifespan of an individual.
A study was done on rats. One group was fed less calories as part of their regular diet, and the other was fed considerably more. Those with a low-caloric diet had a longer lifespan, about one and a half times longer than the regular lifespan of rats.
VLCD Theory
The theory of a VLCD, or Very Low Calorie Diet, predicates itself on not consuming more calories than the body needs. The Slim and Trim Protocol involves a very low-caloric diet. The reason we do that is because the hCG hormone, which is a cornerstone of the protocol, is based on converting body fat into energy. In other words, you are consuming your own fat for energy, so you do not need to eat so much food.
Research in the 1960s by Dr. ATW Simeon, founder of the hCG Diet, pointed to the fact that we do not need more than 500 calories a day. That’s because while being on daily hCG injections, one pound of fat can work itself into 3,000 calories. So you do the math: With these 3,000 calories, you do not need more than 500 calories.
Combating Empty Nutrition
I have seen people who regularly eat more than 5,000 calories a day as part of their diet. This is a typical American diet where 1 person eats for two as everything is super-sized. Fast food restaurants serve large amounts of food because it is cheap. But most of this food contains empty calories. There is no nutrition in it, so it also stores up toxins in the body.
So a very low caloric diet combined with a hormone shot breaks up the fat in the body and converts it into energy, with no side effects. It only works in conjunction with the hormone shot. If you only do the low caloric diet, it is called starvation, as you do not have the energy needed to perform the normal physiological functions of the body. By itself, a low-caloric diet will not work as it breaks down the structural fat and the proteins of the body first.
