In southern California there is a big market for luxury cars, but often their interiors require repair. But why have the whole inside replaced, when you can just have it fixed, asks Aaron Baird. He owns West Coast Recon, a mobile automotive reconditioning company based in southern California, and talks here about how he makes car interiors look as good as new.
Here in California I work with a lot of high-end cars, including Land Rovers, Jaguars, and Aston Martins. The interior leather seats can be faded or worn, and also the interior trim pieces such as cup holders and door panels can be chipped, or the interior trim color can be chipped.
I end up taking the interior trim pieces off, sand them a little and then we redye them. Those are the two most popular interior repairs that I do here in southern California, including Los Angeles and Newport Beach.
I can redye any part of the car that has dye or paint on it. I dye lots of things in high-end cars to make them look like new, including:
- Steering wheels
- Leather seats
- Cup holders
- Dashboards
- Carpets
- Interior door panels
Anything that has a dye or a paint on it that has been scratched or faded can be repaired if you have an expensive vehicle. There is no reason to despair if you are seeing some signs of age on any part of your vehicle. The cost of replacement, which most people think they have to do for these pieces, is usually quadruple the cost of me coming in and actually repairing or refinishing it.
