Getting the right contractor is key when it comes to getting a home renovation project carried out the way you want it to be, says Dan Schaefer. As founder of Providence Renovation, LLC, a residential and commercial restoration and remodeling company, he works throughout Phoenix, and beyond to gain his customers’ trust. Here, he explains what it means to do the job right.
Choosing a contractor is an important first step for your home remodeling project. At Providence Renovation, we accommodate our customers with everything needed to accomplish their home improvement goals. Remodeling is a complicated process because doing the job right requires a multitude of decisions, and a successful master plan. There are three major parts to the Remodeling Master Plan:
Identify the customer’s goals. We ask our customers questions to understand why they are considering remodeling their home. How would you like your space to be more functional, comfortable, and beautiful? How could your home better serve your lifestyle needs — do you need office space, an extra room for visitors, do your children or family members need updated quarters? Is your family expanding or shrinking, and would you like to convert spaces to function in new ways?
Choose a style for the home. The remodeling process often opens new opportunities for our customers to change their interior style. Even simply painting a new color in the living room and installing upgraded crown molding and floor trim inspires our customers to hang new artwork and consider new furnishings. The style of the home interior starts with defining the home owners’ lifestyle and focuses on creating pleasure and comfort. We ask questions such as: Do you like to entertain, and host parties in your home? Do you prefer a casual feel to your home or elegant? Would you enjoy creating a ‘theme’ for your design like French Country, Italian Classic, Contemporary. The home can have unique rooms with different themes or styles but it’s best for most floor plans to choose a main theme and stick to it for the general spaces like the living room, kitchen, and family room. We help our customers choose their style with photographs, samples of wood, carpeting, paint, and computer-generated design concepts of their home spaces.
Budgets, time and resources. After we identify the customer’s home goals for function and design, we can develop a budget and remodeling strategy. Sometimes our customers love the new plans for their home but the cost prohibits doing everything at once. We understand and respect the family budget and assist our customers in developing a completion schedule, divided into affordable phases. This way, rooms can be completed within the customer’s budget and we can return to complete their remodeling work when funds are available. Every job we do, no matter how small, starts with a schedule so our customer is aware of the remodeling process. We work effectively with our resources of manpower, materials, and equipment to minimize disruption to our customer’s plans and lifestyle. Our experience allows us to accurately prepare our customers for each phase of their remodeling project.
When hiring a remodeling company, the paramount concern for the homeowner is trust. We understand how unnerving it can be to invite a company into your home. For this reason, we only hire quality people we know and trust. Our team is trained to work safely, and are skilled tradespeople who take pride in their work and their profession.
Providence team members have no drug or alcohol addictions. The Providence team is lead each day by a dedicated on-site supervisor experienced in all trades. We also encourage our team to continue their advancement with company lead training, and we reward our employees with quarterly performance-based bonuses. Our customers also know they can trust Providence Renovation because we are a licensed contractor, with all required insurances and bonding protecting each job.
Sometimes we need additional help from a licensed specialist to complete a unique project. We have relationships with several qualified companies who can assist us with qualified contractors, including electricians, plumbers, engineers, and manufacturers. Our network of certified contractors allows us to coordinate and manage all phases of the remodeling project for our customer. The project is completed with no time lost, or extra project management hassles for the home owner. We don’t normally need assistance from other companies but we are always prepared for those unique circumstances.
