Making Your Event Unique

Joshua Riazi is a trained chef who earned a bachelor’s of science in culinary nutrition from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. Now as the owner of Ripe Food and Events, he helps clients plan the menus for all types of parties. In this article, Riazi tells us the most popular trends in one-of-a-kind parties.

Whether it’s a birthday party, an anniversary get-together, or a wedding, everyone wants their event to be unique. Probably now more than ever, people are coming in with ideas already in their mind of how they plan to make their party different from all the others they have attended.

One thing that some people do is to create a signature cocktail to be served at their event. Here at Ripe Food and Events, we love helping clients come up with unique, customized drinks that they can serve to guests. You don’t have to be a bartender to come up with something like this either because we can do a lot of the work for you and come up with a handful of completely original drink options. What we come up with for the drink will be based on what kinds of liquor you like and your favorite tastes. Based on that information, we can easily come up with a few options to try out, one of which can be served to your guests as the ’signature cocktail’ for your event.

Another thing that party hosts are really getting into right now is themed events. And themes don’t have to just be centered around a particular color or something current, either. When we do themed events, we are doing really wild things sometimes. Off the top of my head I can think back to a woman who came in and said she wanted to have a complete party based on Julia Child. So she wanted a Julia Child-themed event, where we only used Julia Child’s recipes in the foods we made for the catering and where the guests were all expected to dress up like Julia Child. It was great.

As catering and event planners, we see clients come in with all types of ideas, and we love to make these things happen and come to life.

Another event we recently put on was a Tuscan-themed party, where everything from the food to the décor had a Tuscany-type feel. That was great because the food was fantastic and we were able to help with the décor as well.

Since we are a full-service company, we can help guests with a lot more than just the food. We can actually rent a lot of the supplies they will need, such as tables and decorations and glassware. And if we don’t have the supplies in stock ourselves, we have all the connections in the local community to be able to find whatever a client needs.

I would certainly say people are definitely trying to do more themed events these days, and that is great. Not only is it a fun way to have a party, but having a completely unique theme also ensures that your event will be one-of-a-kind.
