Wouldn’t it be nice to get a shapelier bum – and thinner thighs – at the same time? That is the thinking behind having a buttock augmentation using transplanted fat, or fat harvested from other parts of your body. Dr. Pooja Malik is medical director and aesthetic medicine physician at Mullica Hill Skincare in Mullica Hill, New Jersey, and talks here about how this procedure is done.
Many women – and men – are interested in having shapelier buttocks, or having them augmented to make them appear rounder, fuller or curvier. At Mullica Hill Skincare, we offer a procedure that can give you the posterior you have always dreamed of.
Usually we offer a buttock augmentation with the fat that is harvested from laser lipolysis, a kind of laser-assisted liposuction that has less risks of traditional liposuction. We can take fat from many parts of the body, including the thighs and the upper arms, the abdomen and the upper back.
Proper Harvesting
After treatment and after proper harvesting of the fat cells, the fat can be injected into the buttock area for a better contour and a fuller behind. The treatment is done under anesthetic and the amount of downtime usually depends on the amount of fat being harvested, and the area it is taken from.
The time it will take to have a successful buttock augmentation depends on whichever area that fat is being harvested from. Once the fat is harvested and then treated, it is possible to transplant the same fat into the buttock area, no matter what part of the body you get the desired amount of fat from.
Breast Augmentation
Having your buttocks augmented with fat transplants is a popular treatment. It is a lot nicer than having a buttock implant, when a foreign object is inserted into the buttocks. Also known as butt recontouring, this type of transplant can make it difficult to sit down, and can be uncomfortable even in the long term.
At Mullica Hill Skincare, we only do the fat transfer into the buttocks, not the breasts, which is popular in some med spas. Auotologous fat transfer to enhance the breasts is one of the safest and most successful methods of breast enhancement. The reason for that is that no foreign materials such as implants are being inserted into the breast, meaning the body will not reject them.
