Here at OKC Lipo we get a lot of repeat customers, and I think that is fairly common in the liposuction community as a whole. The reason is fairly easy to understand. For a lot of people, they might not be so sure about coming in and undergoing liposuction. But once they do it, and they have completed the procedure, they are so pleased with the results and how easy the process was that they want to come right back in for more.
A lot of people see that liposuction has been a relatively painless and straightforward procedure with relatively quick recovery. Oftentimes, the procedure itself only lasts about an hour to an hour and a half, so it doesn’t take long. And then once these patients are fully recovered and back at home looking at the results, they like what they see on their bellies or their flanks. It’s then that they realize that this was easy enough that they could do it again on another body part. So all of a sudden, they are calling us up to get an appointment to have liposuction done on their arms or have their thighs thinned.
By and large, the most popular area for people to have liposuction done on is the abdomen and the thighs for many people. So a lot of people come in for that, but then when they come back in for a second treatment, they may want to refine a specific body part that has always bothered them, even though sometimes that body part doesn’t even stick out particularly to other people.
That’s what is so funny about working with patients, getting to see that everyone is different and everyone has different things that bother them. You know, I will have someone come into the office who has a really big nose, let’s say for example. And then this person will ask me to help remove a small scar on their leg that doesn’t even seem noticeable. A lot of times I just want to ask, “What?”
But the truth is, we as doctors should be fixing the things that bother our patients and not what bothers us. So that specifically is why I never, ever make suggestions to people about what they might want to have done. I always let the idea for liposuction on a certain body part be the idea of the patient. It is not the place of the doctor to step in and start recommending things like that.
In terms of the cost of having multiple procedures done, we don’t usually offer any sort of discounts for that here at my practice. Sometimes I will offer a discount to someone, but usually it is not for something like a customer who is coming back for more liposuction in a different area. You know, I do sometimes lower prices for patients who I can really tell don’t have the money but are really excited about the procedure—people who don’t have two nickels to rub together. I sometimes feel bad for them, so I will offer a small discount or something like that. But for the most part, we don’t offer discounts for repeat customers or anything like that.
We do, however, have a number of payment options and financing plans that patients can check out if money is an issue. And they can find out about those things by checking out our OKC Lipo website or just calling in and asking the people at the front desk.
