Men and Medical Spas

Matthew Pruitt is the owner of NuVision, a boutique medical spa in Manhattan that offers a range of laser-based procedures including Lasik, BOTOX, and skin rejuvenation. He took the time to discuss the latest trends in cosmetic treatments for .

You would be surprised just how many we see coming into NuVision asking for treatments to help them achieve a younger, more refreshed look these days. Month after month, we see more coming into the office. For the most part, they are coming in for things like acne and hair removal; that has always been consistent. However, in recent years there has been a strong trend of coming into the office for BOTOX injections, fillers, and laser treatments to reduce wrinkles as well. Many of these are middle aged, and may just be looking for a little pick me up.

When come into the office saying they would like to look younger, one of the most common options is for them to undergo a BOTOX treatment. Other popular procedures include fillers and the Affirm laser treatments. As far as the Affirm lasers are concerned, tend to have deeper lines in their foreheads and around their mouths. When they come in saying they want a strong treatment without much downtime, the Affirm is commonly what we recommend.

One difference between our male and female patients is the average age. are usually considering doing these elective procedures a little later than women in most cases. So whereas most women begin considering cosmetic treatments in their 30s—and certainly by the time they are in their 40s— commonly wait until they are in their late 40s or 50s before coming into the office. Of course, it just takes a little longer to catch up with women in a lot of areas of life.

Whatever their age, the main motivation behind coming into the medical spa for and women is not very different. It is becoming more and more apparent that are becoming just as interested in keeping their youthful appearance as women are. Especially in today’s job market, people are looking for whatever leg up they can get. And if that means looking a few years younger to land the important promotion or a new job, then more people are going for it. We see that trend continuing month after month and year after year.
