What are Medical Spa Acne Treatments?

Matthew Pruitt is the owner of NuVision, a boutique medical spa with offices throughout the tri-state area that offers a range of laser-based procedures including Lasik, BOTOX, skin rejuvenation. He has helped countless men and women suffering from acne and in this article compares the differences between using over-the-counter creams and visiting a medical spa for the treatment of acne.

Most people who have suffered from acne and tried finding a cure with an at-home treatment will tell you they have had one of two experiences: Either these over-the-counter creams, and things of that nature, simply didn’t work, or they began to work and led to slight signs of improvement for the first three months, and then the product just stopped working altogether.

That typically is what leads to a lot of the frustration for patients who walk through our door at NuVision. They have tried these things, and not succeeded. Oftentimes, they are really looking for something that is not just going to be a big promise and a big letdown, but something that is actually going to give them tangible results. Any good medical spa will stand behind those results and continue to work with patients until they can help them reach the cosmetic goals they are looking for.

The big difference between buying something over the counter and sitting down with a trained medical professional is that the medical professional is going to be able to evaluate your skin as you sit in the exam chair and identify and determine what is really causing the problems.

The physician can then use this information to come up with a customized solution to fix the acne issue. The great thing about what we do is simply that—skin analysis. With this skin analysis, we can then make a customized treatment plan and follow the patient’s progress throughout the course of their acne treatment. We do that by first establishing images of photography of the patient before they start having treatments and then following that transition and that progress all the way through until they have achieved the clear skin they were hoping for.

Thanks to these photos and skin analysis, patients can see just how tangible the results they are experiencing really are. You just don’t get that in a bottle.

Costs

When most people come in for acne treatments, they purchase anywhere from four to six treatments at one time. The costs of these treatments can range anywhere from $100 for a peel all the way up to $750 for an Affirm laser treatment.

But of course, most patients don’t plan on undergoing a treatment just once—since just one treatment usually cannot deliver the results they are looking for—which is why many choose package options instead of paying for one treatment at a time. Most medical spas will offer some sort of a volume discount to those who choose a package option. And again, at NuVision we provide all types of financing options to for our patients, including those looking for acne treatments.

The information in the article is not intended to substitute for the medical expertise and advice of your healthcare provider. We encourage you to discuss any decisions about treatment or care with an appropriate healthcare provider.
