You often spend more time with your co-workers than you do at home, especially if you are an entrepreneur or a small business owner. Having a good relationship with those people is key to not only a productive professional life but to your happiness personally. One way to maintain strong relationships with your co-workers is through social team building events like playing in a local intramural sports league (like Yodle does with our softball and basketball teams) or volunteer in your local community like hosting a blood drive or going to a foodbank. Sometimes you even have to take time out of your actual work day to have a little fun, like Yodle did last week.
Yodle 2010 NYC Softball Team
In the Yodle NYC office last week, Yodlers competed in Puma’s Sprint Your Halls Off challenge against 8 other companies in the area including Fast Company and Yahoo!. Puma came in and brought people from disparate departments together to cheer on their colleagues as they raced down the hall in pursuit of the being named the fastest company in the land (and not just the fastest growing). We may not have won the competition (though 4 Yodlers did represent the company well at the championship event bringing home the #2 spot out of all NYC companies) but we had a great time, and bonded with our colleagues, not to mention this awesome video of the event!
Enjoying what you do is very important. So is enjoying who you do it with!

This is an under-utilized workplace productivity booster. People play together, work better together - thanks for the reminder!
