Introducing Local Online Advertising for Dummies

Back in 2007, I was having a conversation with a colleague of mine here at Yodle who was commenting to me on how much contradictory information was on the Internet regarding how a local business should advertise themselves online. “No wonder so many of the local businesses that come to us for help are confused and frustrated with online advertising,” my colleague said.

Right then the thought dawned on us that there was no one clear and accessible reference for business owners that dealt with the entire world of local online advertising. Over two years and a whole lot of writing on the weekends later, I’m extremely proud to announce the official publication of Local Online Advertising for Dummies.

In writing this book, we really tried to create a resource that covered all the major aspects of local online advertising in a straightforward yet comprehensive way. We aimed for this so that the book would be at once digestible for the beginner as well as useful for someone who may have already tried their hand at running a local online advertising campaign.

This book covers a wide range of individual topics from website creation, pay-per-click advertising and SEO to social media, banner advertising, and email. The reason we felt it important to cover such a wide breadth of topics is that there really isn’t one strategy that works for all local businesses, and we wanted to help empower business owners to better decide what is right for their individual business.
