Orchestras are musical ensembles made up of instrumental sections that include woodwinds, strings, brass, and sometimes percussion. Large orchestras are known as “symphony” orchestras, and usually perform in concert halls or as part of a stage performance in the section in front of the stage known as the “orchestra pit.” Bands cover a much wider gamut, and can range from high school marching bands to rock and country bands performing popular music.
