Alex Ferrara
Alex Ferrara is a Vice President in the Larchmont office, focusing on investments in financial services technologies, software, technology enabled services, and digital media. He serves on the boards of Yodle, SelectMinds, and Sparter. Alex is also involved with Bessemer’s current investments in Quadriserv, Zopa, Revver, Pure Networks, Gerson Lehrman Group, and Soleil Securities, and was part of the investment team for SiteAdvisor (acquired by McAfee) and Skype (acquired by Ebay).
Prior to BVP, Alex worked at Goldman Sachs in Technology Investment Banking, where he was involved with merger advisory and corporate finance, primarily in the IT services and software sectors. He came to Goldman Sachs from his MBA studies, during which he served as part-time associate with both RRE Ventures and Apax Partners.
Alex was a member of the founding team of two companies: Mainline Marketplace, an online auction business, which was acquired in 2000 by Sales Online Direct; and Boston Technical, an IT consulting group. He started his career in the financial sector as a systems developer for Salomon Brothers and then as a derivatives trader on the New York Board of Trade.
Alex holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, and a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He co-authored O’Reilly & Associates’ “Programming .NET Web Services”.
