Quantitative Engineer – New York, NY

Overview
Yodle is a leading provider of local online advertising that provides businesses with a simple and affordable way to get more phone calls - and new customers. The Area: OPTIMIZATION

Yodle's Optimization Team consists of Statisticians and Software Developers who work within our Software Engineering organization. We analyze huge sets of data and continually run live experiments in order to help drive critical decisions at Yodle that directly affect our bottom line. Specifically, we support the development of innovative, highly scalable, next-generation technologies through deep research and precise analysis. Our responsibilities include producing quantitative and qualitative modeling in areas such as business dynamics and user behavior, as well as creating innovative analysis methods.

The Role: QUANTITATIVE ENGINEER

Do you love data? We are looking for a rock-star statistician/quant/developer to support Yodle's search listing efforts. The ideal candidate has strong quantitative/statistical training and experience applying that training to real-world data, familiarity and experience with effective experimental design, and outstanding written and oral communication skills. The candidate will be responsible for experiment design, quantitative analysis of experiment findings, interpreting and communicating results, and developing and documenting new experiment and analysis frameworks. The candidate will feel comfortable with the fast pace of an Internet startup, and will enjoy all phases of feature development, theory through implementation and maintenance. This position reports to the Director of Optimization.




Responsibilities
  • MS or PhD (BS considered in cases where experience is equivalent of advanced degree) in Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Physics, Operations Research, Biostatistics, Psychology/Sociology or other discipline involving experimental design and quantitative analysis of experimental data.

  • Training and experience in areas such as data analysis, survey design, statistical modeling, regression analysis, and Bayesian regression.

  • Outstanding analytical and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work and complete projects independently.

  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

  • Experienced using technology to work efficiently with datasets; e.g., scripting (Python, Perl), statistical software packages (R, S-Plus, SAS or similar); Unix/Linux experience required.

  • Proficiency with SQL and Java strongly desired.
