Yodle, a leading provider of local search advertising and online lead generation services to small and medium businesses is seeking a talented hands-on Director Engineering.

In this role you will report to our CTO and mentor a growing team of 10 software engineers and thrive in a fast moving, fast growing agile startup environment. You should be a strong hands-on coder, passionate about leading cutting edge web based applications and meeting challenging business requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage a team of 10 software engineers.
• Ability to be hands-on and provide coaching and architectural advice during planning and coding.
• Supervise code reviews and staff performance appraisals.
• Recruit additional team members.
• Stay current by programming in Java using the Spring framework and other scripting languages.

Requirements:

• 5 – 7 years experience with at least 2 years managing an engineering team building a web-based application.
• Strong understanding and commitment to Agile practices.
• Experience managing the development of complex web based applications.
• Solid understanding of Linux, Eclipse and the Spring Framework.
• JMS, multithreading and grid computing experience a strong plus.
• Strong SQL skills, ideally including PostgreSQL, Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server.
• Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working at a startup a strong plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Masters degree a plus.
