Yodle’s Optimization Team is a small group of quantitative professionals who work within our Product department. Our work involves the research and development of optimization algorithms that have a direct impact on the company’s revenue stream and bottom line. Specifically, we apply rigorous quantitative methods (e.g., constrained optimization, parametric/non-parametric estimation) in delivering efficient, scalable technologies to solve a myriad of very challenging problems. Recent work has ranged from applying censored data techniques in model estimation to the prototyping of a tool dedicated to efficient search key-phrase selection. The team works in a fast-paced, dynamic environment filled with opportunities for both personal and professional development. And most importantly, we have fun doing what we do!
We are currently seeking an exceptional Lead Quantitative Developer to manage all aspects of the technical and quantitative components of our talented team. The ideal candidate has strong, hands-on technology expertise and a deep mathematics background. He/She is dedicated to meeting the needs of internal and external customers, able to develop strong peer relationships cross functionally and can be counted on to consistently deliver results. The individual has experience implementing complex ideas with leading-edge technologies and must have the ability to manage and lead a team of talented professionals. The candidate will feel comfortable with the dynamic pace of an Internet startup, participating in all phases of product development from research to implementation and maintenance. The applicant must appreciate and understand the importance of corporate and team culture in driving individual/team development and performance. The ability to clearly communicate with direct reports and senior management in both a concise and precise manner is an absolute must. This position reports to the Director of Product Performance.
Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant course of study (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics) is required – attendance of top-tier university and/or an advanced degree is recommended
• 5+ years of experience in a Quantitative/Software Development environment
• Experience managing and leading a team of quantitative and technical professionals
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment
• Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams in a dynamic fast-paced environment
• Self-motivated, have a positive attitude and demonstrated ability to work independently
• Must be able to think outside-the-box and provide practical solutions to real-world problems
• Understand the relationships between the Poisson and Negative Binomial distributions
• Able to get up and running with Eclipse and SVN within the first day and start coding
• Experience in JAVA and relevant technologies (e.g., JMS, Spring) is required
• Eclipse, Ant and relevant database skills (e.g., relational) are required
• Proficiency in Python, R and Excel is highly recommended
